Showing next at the Ashton Keynes Movie Club

Showing next at our local film club is Four Lions, a story of a group of British jihadists who push their abstract dreams of glory to the breaking point. As the wheels fly off, and their competing ideologies clash, what emerges is an emotionally engaging (and entirely plausible) farce. In a storm of razor-sharp verbal jousting and large-scale set pieces, Four Lions is a comic tour de force; it shows that-while terrorism is about ideology-it can also be about idiots.

Ashton Keynes Rural Cinema

 If you're local to Ashton Keynes, I've just found out about their delightful village cinema!

Ashton Keynes Rural Cinema runs on the 1st Wednesday of the month - with the exception of August. They have a 4m x 3m screen and full Dolby 7.1 surround sound system (with the only limitation being that they can only pump out the audio that the DVD provides). They can play BluRay DVDs as well as the standard format.

They aim to show a wide variety of films including mainstream ones, often before they get to DVD release, but also cult films that may have been missed at the bigger local cinemas.

The current ticket price is only £3.50. Doors & Bar open at 7pm and the film commences at 7.30pm. It is possible to continue with your drink whilst the film is running, they just ask for people to do it quietly, so no milkshakes then!

Films scheduled at the moment are:  February - Last Chance Harvey; March - Amelia; April - An Education.

Office Space

I've had so much going on in my head today that the only Top 5 All Time Favourite list I can come up with today is, the Top 5 All Time Favourite toppings for toast. I know. It's not very inspiring, is it? So I'll miss out on that one on this fine Saturday.

Instead I shall recommend something for your viewing pleasure. My movie of choice tonight is Office Space. "A surprisingly good-natured comedy about the suppressed rage and paranoia of unappreciated employees."  A film that really makes me appreciate my work in a theatre.

Now, where did my red stapler go?
